Hello, 6th Grade Families!
I am Mrs. Gonsalves and I am super excited to teach Ancient Civilizations in this crazy, interesting, challenging and historically meaningful 20-21 school year!
A little about me...
I earned my undergraduate degree in History, English and Secondary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno. Go Pack! I then earned my Master's degree in Education and, later, National Board Certification which was the most challenging educational endeavor I have undertaken. I have been teaching in WCSD for...let's just call it a lot of years! I have been teaching at Mendive since we opened 25 years ago and am very proud of having been a part of creating the excellent reputation Mendive has achieved. I have been married for...again, let's just call it a lot of years! I have a daughter who is a freshman this year at the University of Nevada, Reno, a yellow lab and two kitties. I love the outdoors! My family and I enjoy wildlife, hiking, camping, backpacking, hunting, exploring Nevada back roads and just taking in nature. I am an avid SF Giants fan and bleed blue for my Nevada Wolfpack. Lastly...I am addicted to fountain pens. Love 'em!
I'm no soothsayer, but it doesn't take one to predict this year will be unlike any we've ever experienced. It will be exciting and, yes, challenging. As long as we are patient with each other and remain flexible as we all navigate the unknown, the new and the unexpected, we will have a positive and successful year full of unique learning experiences.
I am so excited to explore Ancient History with all of you!
With hope and anticipation,
Mrs. Gonsalves, AKA Mrs. G :-)
